Mounting a post-August 1972 gearbox on a pre-July 1972 chassis without having to convert the nose of the gearbox becomes possible with this adapter. It has on one side the mounting holes for the modern gearbox and on the other side the mounting holes for the older chassis. The adapter is made of urethane, which immediately gives a much better connection than the original rubber.
You can mount the gearbox at the rear with the original bucket rubbers (#1481), but to get maximum benefit from the urethane, we recommend that you also take the rear rubbers in urethane. These are available separately in a high quality reinforced with aluminum (#1487) or the somewhat smoother version that, like this adapter, is made entirely of urethane (#1400). With the latter option, you only have the front bucket rubber left, which comes only in a complete set.
