Product description
This exterior mirror is a reproduction of the original Volkswagen accessory that was offered by Volkswagen of America at the time and quickly became very popular. Many Beetle owners chose this round USA mirror instead of the oval standard model. Not only because of its distinctive appearance, but especially because the larger mirror surface provided a better view to the rear.
These USA mirrors were intended for LHD vehicles and are still extremely popular today, not only in America but worldwide. They are widely fitted because of their characteristic appearance, the improved rearward visibility and, of course, because the design originates from an original Volkswagen accessory.
The version listed here has, just like the original model, a chrome-plated steel rear housing. This makes this version very close to the original Volkswagen accessory in terms of material and appearance. Keep in mind, however, that chrome-plated steel is more susceptible to corrosion. Especially if the chrome layer becomes damaged, the underlying steel can start to oxidise. Regular cleaning and maintenance are therefore recommended.
If you have a Beetle from 8.1967 onwards, this mirror can also be fitted. For this, the original hinge pin must be replaced by a version with a threaded end onto which the mirror can be mounted. The required hinge pin can be found under the Related parts tab.
