The stabilizer bar limits cornering lean and keeps the wheel from coming off the road. Without a stabilizer, the car becomes unsteady in its handling and thus unpredictable. The thicker the stabilizer bar the better the effect, hence it is advisable for every car to replace the existing (thin) stabilizer bar with a thicker one. These thicker stabilizer bars are 19 mm thick and give a significant improvement in handling (except the model for the pendulum axle* rear, this is a totally different model).

Front:
These stabilizer bars come with a set of urethane rubbers (which are also available separately for the most common models). The mounting brackets are not included, but for the torsion-sprung models (Beetle 1200-1300-1500, Karmann Ghia and Kübel) it is advisable to take the specially intended brackets in addition. You can use your existing brackets, but it is a terrible job to mount them on the stiffer urethane rubbers. For the 1302 and 1303 Beetles, you can use the existing brackets without problems, but if they no longer look good, we recommend replacing them.

Note : For the cars with intermediate axle* rear suspension, we strongly recommend that you not only install a thicker front stabilizer, but also a rear stabilizer, if you replace only the front stabilizer the car becomes very unaccountable and the effect works the opposite way. For the cars with pendulum axles this does not apply (although the handling gets a lot better if you also mount a rear stabilizer).
Front stabilizer bars are available for the torsion-sprung models (Beetle 1200-1300-1500, Karmann Ghia and Kübel) in standard, lowered and narrowed versions. Do not use a standard stabilizer on a lowered car, your stabilizer will be too low and will act as a snow plow. This does not apply to the 1302 and 1303 Beetle, which is why the same part number is given for both standard height and the lowered model.

Stabilizer mounting brackets :
For the 1302-1303 Beetles, these are the same as original, with replacement only applicable if the old ones are bent or rusted. For the other cars, these are brackets that can be used for both the original and thicker stabilizer bars, but with the advantage that you can mount them more easily and are made of stainless steel. The heavy duty clamps are the best option for models after August 1965. They are most similar to the original, with the difference that you clamp them with a bolt-and-nut connection instead of sliding clamps. The universal clamps look like large hose clamps that can be used for all builds. Therefore, for builds up to July 1965, this is the only solution. Make sure that you mount this version dry, so do not use silicone grease or any other greasy emulsion, otherwise they will come loose after a while. All clamps will be delivered in set without rubbers.

Rear :
Our Volkswagens do not have a stabilizer bar at the rear as standard, it is therefore not an unnecessary luxury to fit one, the road holding will improve considerably. For the cars with intermediate axles* this is, just like the front stabilizer, a 19 mm thick stabilizer that is mounted to the spring plates and to the torsion tube. For the cars with pendulum axles" it is a spring plate that is mounted to the gearbox and presses against the pendulum axles, ensuring that the wheels do not spring out unnecessarily when cornering. Both stabilizer bars are supplied as complete sets, no additional parts are required.
