Product description
When the clearance between the wrist pin and the connecting rod bushing reaches or exceeds the wear limit of 0.04 mm, both the wrist pin and the connecting rod bushing must be replaced.
Many people choose to install a complete piston and cylinder set at this point, although this is often unnecessary. If the pistons and cylinders are still within Volkswagen’s specified wear limits, replacing only the wrist pins and connecting rod bushings, possibly combined with a new set of piston rings, is often sufficient.
Please note that replacing a connecting rod bushing is not a plug-and-play job. After pressing in the new bushing, it must always be honed to the correct size so the wrist pin can be fitted with the proper clearance.
In most cases, these wrist pins are purchased to replace worn components, although there are of course also situations where a wrist pin has simply been lost or is missing.
The dimensions are listed separately. Please check them carefully before ordering.
