Product description
If the clearance between the piston pin and the connecting rod bearing approaches the wear limit of 0.04 mm, the piston pin and the connecting rod bearing must be renewed. Many people then choose to use the complete set of pistons and cylinders to replace everything at once, when this is not necessary at all.
If the piston and cylinder continue to be within the wear limit specified by Volkswagen, simply replace the piston pin with a new bearing and possibly a set of new piston rings.
Keep in mind that the replacement of the connecting rod bearing is not a "plug and play" operation, after the bearing has been pressed in, it will have to be sharpened to the right size.
We now assume that you are going to replace the piston pin because of wear, a small part of the buyers will actually do it, the other part needs the piston pin because it is lost.
