Our Volkswagens are full of screws, bolts, nuts and washers that are not all designed for a particular model, but are universally used.
These parts are identified by the part number starting with the "N" from the German word Normteile, i. e. the standard parts.
Now, you'd think these standard parts could be found in any hardware store, but Volkswagen didn't make it that easy. These are standard parts that are mass-produced for various applications, but most are not common and are therefore not available on the DIY market.
It may be a standard part, but that doesn't mean it is still readily available today. This is why many parts in our range, whose VW number begins with the "N", are manufactured specially by us or for us.
The self-tapping screws mentioned here have a spherical head with a Philips head size 2.9 x 13 mm and are made of stainless steel. If the screw head is visible after assembly, you may consider polishing the head to a high gloss.
