Product description
The cooling flaps (located on the left and right side of the fan shroud of the Type 1 engine) are connected to each other by a rod for simultaneous actuation. This rod is usually attached to the cooling flaps by springs.
On dual inlet engines until 1975, this device was replaced by retaining clips. But later it became apparent that springs worked better than clips, so after 1975 (except for 1200cc engines) springs were used again.
The retaining clips were not only used for the cooling flaps, but also to fix the accelerator pedal of the Volkswagen Bay WIndow Bus and to fix the clutch lever to the pedal of the VW Vanagoni.
