Product description
The original oil filter system of type 1 and type 3 engines is not optimal, only the oil sieve has to do the work, it filters out coarse impurities only. Volkswagen discovered it late, but it was not until the 1980s that VW equipped Type 1 engines with an additional removable oil filter. The CT and Type 4 engines, on the other hand, were equipped with a removable oil filter from the outset. The oil sieve was then only intended for coarse dirt. On water-cooled engines, the sieve has completely disappeared.
To ensure maximum oil filtration, the "Lifetime" oil filter has been developed. It filters down to 45 microns, i.e. up to 25 times better than the original oil sieve. You can clean and reuse the filter over and over again, but you should only replace it if it is extremely dirty or damaged.
To accommodate the oil filter, a mini-sump is screwed under the existing crankcase, so that the cover of the original crankcase with the sieve is removed.
Apart from much better oil filtration, there are a few other advantages, as the extra sump is placed slightly underneath the car; there is better oil cooling and the sump is always well filled with oil for optimum suction, even in fast corners. In short, if you don't want to fit an external oil filter or replace your oil pump with an oil filter, this mini sump with "Lifetime" oil filter is the best way to perfectly filter the oil and preserve your original engine. Don't forget that every 5,000 km you clean the filter and replace it in case of extreme pollution or damaged filter.
Supplied complete with seals, fixing material and oil filter.
