If you have a leak between the gearbox and the engine, you can tell by the smell whether it is engine oil or gearbox oil. In both cases, you have to dismantle the engine.
If gearbox oil is leaking, replace the primary oil seal. Do not postpone this job. If the oil leaks for a long time, the gearbox suspension rubbers can become soft and you will incur higher costs. Prevention is better than cure.
If engine oil leaks, replace the crank seal (behind the flywheel). It is also advisable, now that the engine is dismantled, to replace the flywheel seal at the same time (see tab options).
After replacing the oil, check it by unscrewing the plug on the left-hand side. The oil should come out slightly, or you can top it up with the correct oil (see tab options).
