If you want to lower your Volkswagen and your front axle has to be replaced anyway, it makes sense to choose this adjustable front axle. This is a new front axle in which the fixed inner torsion bar bracket has been replaced by an adjustable one. No welded blocks, but the best way, with adjustable plates.

Thanks to the use of plates, the shaft retains its normal strength (which is not the case with welded adjusting blocks). The maximum reduction achievable is about 80 mm. Although we do not recommend going beyond 60 mm, further lowering will result in a very unfavourable angle of the support arm in relation to the front axle, which, among other things, does not improve handling. If you want to go further than 60 mm, with more comfort and better handling, combine lowered spindels with a lowered front axle.

For information, when you mount a lowered front axle, you are not at the standard height, even at the highest position. If you want to raise the car in the meantime, this is not a problem at all; just loosen the shock absorbers on one side, loosen the lock nuts on the lowering system and bring the car to the highest point. Now tighten the lock nuts and shock absorbers again and your height is adjusted.

With only one front axle down, you are not there yet, other things will have to be adjusted: For cars after 8/1965, the maximum angle of inclination of the rocket ball can be reached with a deep bounce. To counteract this, you will have to use lowered rockets (they can tilt much further). When going down at the front, the frame goes down a few degrees, which reduces the caster angle. The smaller the caster angle, the more inconsistent the steering behaviour will be. This compensation can be carried out by fitting one or more shims between the lower front axle mounting. This compensation also applies to cars up to 7/1965. In this case the standard front axle bolts will no longer fit and you will have to replace them with extended bolts.

In addition, the shock absorbers will no longer suffice in length. Once the car is back on its wheels, measure the space needed for the shock absorber and choose the one that best suits your situation. For each shock absorber in the Paruzzi range, the size is indicated (both in retracted and extended position). If you want to go very low, look at the narrowed front axles (see "related parts" tab), with this you can go down until the axle touches the road.

The front axles are equipped with needle roller bearings and the "Puma" type lowering system. In addition, you will have to transfer or replace everything mentioned above. Also think about your stabilizer bar, it also needs to be replaced by a lowered version (see tab "related parts").

Both front axles are only suitable for left-hand drive (LHD) cars.

Note: The front axle from 1960 to 7/1965 can also be used for cars up to 1960, if you remove the bracket for the steering damper en fr (until 1960 it was not yet mounted) and remove the studs for the steering box, you can mount it without any problems.

The front axle comes in a transport paint, for aesthetic and longevity it is wise to paint this front axle in a final paint.
