Product description
On the Type 4 engines, two sump plates are used:
- a cover that holds the oil sieve, recognisable by the central fixing nut
- a cover that is used for inspection purposes, is attached with two M6 bolts.
The O-ring mentioned here is the seal for the inspection cover. It is not a standard rubber ring, but an O-ring specifically designed for this application and capable of withstanding high temperatures. A standard rubber O-ring would harden quickly due to the heat, resulting in leakage.
