Product description
Volkswagen models 1302 and 1303 were equipped with an auxiliary steering box until the 1974 model change.
Inside this auxiliary steering box is a vulcanized metal ring designed to absorb all play. When this ring is worn, excessive play occurs in the steering wheel, which can lead to vibrations while driving.
In addition, the bolt that secures the auxiliary arm and passes through the metal bushing can also be the source of excessive play. The main culprit is corroded rust.
Alongside damaged threads, largely due to rust, and a seized shaft, these are the two most common reasons why replacement is necessary.
