On our Volkswagen Bus, we see two different configurations of the seats from the middle to the back of the cabin.
-A narrow centre seat so that passengers can easily walk to the back seat, we call it a 3/4 centre seat.
-A slightly wider middle seat with a piece of backrest that can be folded down for easy passage, we call it a 2/3 middle seat.
The rear seat is always at the maximum width.
Over time, the seat or bench sags, causing the upholstery to tear. These cracks are caused by the space created between the coating and the filling. But the most annoying thing is the lack of seating comfort. Check the condition of the upholstery before you start restoring your seats. A new upholstery on an old, sagging padding gives a reasonable result immediately after installation, but after a few months the padding starts to lose its shape and the padding still has to be replaced.
The upholstery is available in the same material as that used by Volkswagen at the time, it is made from cocoa grass, better known as horsehair.
Between the springs and the filling, there must be a damping felt that protects the padding and against the noise caused by the springs, order it in addition (see options tab)
