Both the Beetle and the T2 Bay were originally available with headlight washer nozzles. On the Beetle, these were elegantly integrated into the bumper, for which Volkswagen also supplied a special bumper with a cut-out. On the T2 Bay, the nozzles were mounted extra high in the bumper overriders.

The use of headlight washer nozzles also had a legal background: in Sweden, it became mandatory in 1974 to equip vehicles with a headlight cleaning system. Volkswagen responded by fitting these practical nozzles not only for Sweden, but also for many other Scandinavian countries.
