The glove box lock is available with and without key, the keyless model having only been used in the Volkswagen Beetle 1303. The VW Thing and the VW Vanagon, on the other hand, have always been equipped with a key lock.
If the locking clip is broken or lost, don't worry, you don't need to buy a complete lock. The clip is also available separately and fits both glove box locks with or without key.
