Product description
At the rear, the gearbox is mounted with vulcanized rubbers on a support, which is attached to the chassis fork with 20 mm thick bolts.
These bolts are very stressed, they have to hold the gearbox in place with the engine attached to it, so they are the most important bolts that fix the engine and the gearbox to the chassis.
For the Volkswagen Beetle and the Karmann Ghia from the 1973 to 1985 model years, these bolts not only secure the bracket to the chassis but also hold the rubber of the gearbox or engine mount. For other VW models and VW and Karmann Ghia Beetles up to model year 1972 and from model year 1986 on, the transmission or engine mount rubbers are only attached to the suspension mount.
Carefully check that the bolts are not too rusty and that the threads are of good quality; if the threads are damaged, you will have to replace them anyway.
In any case, you should replace the spring washers, because over time and through corrosion, they can lose their clamping ability. If the spring washers are not shown in the photo, they are not included and you will need to order them separately, in which case they can be found in the "options" tab.
