Product description
If you smell gasoline, you should investigate immediately, the first thing to do is to look inside the front trunk, where the smell of gasoline is likely to be strongest. The problem will be in the connections between the metal and rubber fill pipes, as the rubber gaskets can no longer do their job properly.
Fit new rubber gaskets and check the hoses for cracks, if in doubt you should also replace the hoses (see the related parts tab).
These rubbers are therefore mounted between the metal and the rubber hose to ensure a gas-tight connection to the fuel gas. Never use an old bicycle tire that is not resistant to gasoline.
The years of construction mentioned indicate when Volkswagen started to use these rubbers, it is advisable to mount them from 8/1967 (before this date the fuel tank was accessed from the boot).
Order the number you need, the total number to replace the whole. This may vary depending on the year of construction and/or the VW model.
Mounting tip: Slide the dry sealing rubber over the metal hose, use glycerine on the sealing rubber and the inside of the hose and slide them over each other. In this way, assembly is much more pleasant than when the parts are dry-mounted on top of each other.
