Product description
From the model year 1966 onwards, the exterior mirrors of the Karmann Ghia were mounted on the door with a fastener. The mirror is screwed into a nut and with the rubber underneath, it is screwed to the door. Finally, a rosette or escutcheon hides the mounting screws.
The part mentioned here is the part into which the mirror is screwed and which is screwed to the door with two screws.
In addition to the application for the exterior mirrors of the Karmann Ghia, it was also used on the Volkswagen Beetle convertible until July 1967 to meet safety requirements in some countries. In these countries, the mirrors could only be mounted on the doors and not on the hinges, as was the case with Volkswagen at the time. The mirrors used for this purpose came from the Karmann Ghia, as did the mounting base.
In addition to the exterior mirrors, yellow headlight lenses were also part of this safety package, which was registered internally under the code name M124.
