Product description
Each Volkswagen Beetle is factory equipped with a driver's side exterior mirror, the other side was available as an option and was sporadically installed at the factory for special versions. Until model year 1967, the mirror was mounted on the hinge axis, if you want to mount a second mirror for these models, you will have to replace the existing hinge axis, these are mentioned under the other models tab.
For Volkswagen Beetles from 1968 onwards, the mirror is screwed into the door and for the convertible version into the window frame. Unfortunately, Volkswagen did not equip the passenger door of cars produced in Germany with an ex-works assembly location, but the Beetles produced later in Mexico were equipped with one. To mount the passenger side mirror, it is necessary to drill a hole exactly in the same position and size as the driver's door. Copy the exact position of the mirror mounting hole from the driver's door to the passenger's door. Drill a hole with a conical drill and let it rotate slowly to avoid unnecessary heat that could cause discoloration of the paint. Treat the bear metal against rust. If you have copied the hole exactly, you will find the place where this special mirror nut will fit from the inside. Thanks to the special construction of the nut, it tightens in place and can no longer turn. When the mirror is removed, the nut remains in place.
