Brake discs are very sensitive to rust; when the car is stationary in the rain, rust traces are immediately visible, they disappear after a single braking operation. The brake discs are therefore rightly protected to prevent water and dirt from being splashed onto them while driving. If no dust plates or splash shields are installed, this will reduce the life of the brake discs and brake pads, which will not improve braking performance.
Replace bent or rusty brake splash shields and don't think you can get rid of them for good. The shields are attached to the stub axle by bolts, these bolts often break due to rust. Try to avoid this by injecting well in advance with Multi-Spray, make sure the bolt head does not rust and make sure you have a tight fitting wrench or socket.
For the Volkswagen Beetle, Karmann Ghia, VW Type 3 and Bay Window Bus, please order the assembly kit, it is not available everywhere (M7 bolts and washers). There is no mounting kit available for the Volkswagen Vanagon, these are standard M6 bolts with a length of 12 mm.
All splash shields are supplied individually, galvanised or with black transport paint.
Note: The splash shields for the VW Bay Window were originally intended for the Brazilian Volkswagen Bus with two mounting holes. These do not correspond to the European VW Bus, it is necessary to drill the three fixing holes in the right place, use your old dust splash shields as an example.
