A set of good brakes is certainly not an unnecessary luxury, which is why Volkswagen replaced the drum brakes at the front with disc brakes from 1966 onwards, on models with a bigger engine.

In many cars the existing engine has already been replaced by an engine with a larger displacement / more power. What is usually not considered are the brakes, more power is nice but you also have to be able to brake it.For this purpose, these sets have been developed, they are available for 5-hole (205 mm PCD) and 4-hole rims (130 mm PCD). It is therefore also possible to equip a car that originally has 4-hole brakes with disc brakes intended for 5-hole rims.

All parts in these sets are of very high quality. For the cars after August 1957 the track width is not changed (with regard to the original).With the cars produced until July 1957 the track width does change, with ± 2 cm per side.

Attention: If you are going to mount discs at the rear, it is necessary to replace your master cylinder by one with a larger yield.For disc brake set #3283 this is already included, for the other sets you will have to order this extra (see tab 'options').

Note for the 5-hole disc brake sets:
These sets consist of: brake discs, complete calipers with brake pads, brake hoses, mounting brackets, wheel bearing sets, a master cylinder (see also the remark above) and the necessary mounting material.
For vehicles until July 1957 the track width changes with +2 cm per side.
Attention: only suitable with the use of minimum 15 inch rims and not suitable in combination with lowered spindles.

Note for the 4-hole disc brake sets:
Conversion kit #3302 includes: calipers (ATE) with pads, caliper mounting kit, brake discs, disc brake spindles, brake hoses, dust caps, dust cover mounting kits and wheel bearing kits.If you want to mount lowered spindles instead of the standard spindles supplied, please choose all parts separately (see tab "Replacement parts") and use lowered spindles (tab " related") instead of the standard spindles.

Conversion kit #3287 is identical to the above mentioned kit, except for the brake calipers, which are from the Uber brand. A very good reproduction, which favourably influences the total price of this set. If you want the highest possible quality, choose the set above with Ate calipers.

The conversion kit #3288 consists of: calipers with pads, mounting material, mounting brackets and brake discs. With this set no wheel bearing sets are supplied, take these extra (see tab options), also with this conversion kit there is no possibility to mount a dust cover, for the preservation of the discs and calipers regular cleaning is a requirement.
