Most Volkswagens were originally equipped with chrome headlight rings. This also applies to the Karmann Ghia, which had three different types of headlight rings throughout its production years. These differences depend not only on the production year, but also on the type of lighting used.
Models that were factory-equipped with sealed beam headlights, as was required in the USA at the time, have different headlight rings than models with replaceable bulb (duplo) lighting. In addition, for sealed beam versions, the production year also plays a role in these differences.
The differences are minimal and therefore often overlooked. As a result, a headlight ring is frequently ordered that can be made to fit, but does not fully match the original.
The headlight ring listed here is intended for replaceable bulb (duplo) headlights, as commonly used in most European countries. However, always carefully check which type of lighting is installed. Your Karmann Ghia may have been converted in the past to a different lighting system, for example from sealed beam to duplo, in order to comply with the legal requirements of the country at that time. This ensures that you select the correct headlight ring.
