Product description
On the Bay Window Buses equipped with self-adjusting brakes (from model year 1974 onwards), the adjusting nuts and bolts were replaced in some countries by bearing block inserts against which the brake shoes rested on the underside.
Vanagons were equipped with self-adjusting rear brakes from the beginning and were equipped with the same bearing block inserts until the end of production.
Rust and wear are the main causes of the need for replacement, although you or your predecessor could have avoided this by regularly checking the condition of your brakes, cleaning them and reapplying copper grease.
The bearing block inserts must move smoothly, so only high-temperature resistant copper grease is used. If this product is not yet part of your standard range of lubricants, order it additionally, it can be found in the "options" tab.
