123 distributors have a universal housing. When mounted on an air-cooled Volkswagen, a gap is left between the igniter and the mounting collar. To bridge this gap, you'll need a filler ring, or use this complete mounting clamp.
This current distributor clamp is only suitable for the 123 current distributor, for which a filling ring is no longer necessary, the filling gap being the thickness of the clamp. This aluminum collar not only provides a neat finish, it also facilitates assembly. If the distributor is fitted with this clamp or loose ring, it will always be in the correct position in the crankcase. Without the stuffing ring or clamp, the distributor may be positioned too deeply or too shallowly in the crankcase, risking damage to the distributor and/or the crankcase.
We recommend that you buy at least the ring with your new 123 distributor, but an even better solution is this igniter clamp, for which you don't need the ring.
