Product description
The first Volkswagen Beetles and Buses were not equipped with a direction indicator as we know it today, but with a system based on the way cyclists hold out their hands when changing direction. By operating the turn signal switch, located on the steering column, the blinker would emerge from the bodywork and, to increase visibility, a light would be switched on.
Volkswagen used this form of flasher until 1960, after which the flasher was permanently moved to the front and rear and fitted with a blinker system.
Many semaphores are worn, age having taken its toll, and it's the lenses that suffer most. The sun has discolored the lenses and corroded the plastic. It's high time to look for replacements.
Volkswagen used two brands of semaphores, SHO and SWF. The lenses are currently only available for SWF models or their reproductions.
