Product description
On Volkswagen Beetle, Karmann Ghia and VW Thing models which are equipped with independent rear suspension (IRS) and on VW Vanagon up to model year 1984, the handbrake cable is attached to the support arm with a plastic clip.
In many Volkswagens this clip has broken over the years or is no longer present at all. In the vast majority of restored cars, this clip is missing. If the clamp was not present before the restoration, few people know that the handbrake cable has to be attached to the support arm.
This may also be the case on your Volkswagen. If this is the case, make sure that your handbrake cable is properly secured.
