Product description
Electrolytically blackened mounting materials are mainly used if they remain visible after mounting. The black coating is only used for color, in terms of corrosion resistance it is comparable to galvanizing.
The Parker screws mentioned here were originally intended for mounting the rear lights, hence their black color in order to be as unnoticeable as possible. But Volkswagen wouldn't be Volkswagen if they didn't use these screws in many places, sometimes the black color is not necessary at all.
Volkswagen later replaced these screws with the same size screws but with torx instead of Phillips and they also replaced the original VW number. They never came with torx, which is why our screws have a Phillips head, exactly as they left the factory.
As we said, these parker screws are not only used for the tail lights, they are also applied for many other things, but only for the Volkswagen Vanagon. Below, by application, is the number of screws you would need, if you were to replace them all:
- fuel line clamp 1 piece
- cover on top right heating water hoses 1 piece
- bumper on tailgate on pickup versions X *
- folding seat floor bracket on ambulance versions 3 pieces
- tail lights 8 pieces
* X = the number is equal to the number of fenders, may differ depending on the version
