Product description
An open roof or ragtop was used in the most luxurious versions of Volkswagen, an option that was particularly popular in hot regions. The first open roof consisted of a canvas sliding roof which was replaced by a metal sliding roof for the export Volkswagen Beetle at the end of the 1964 model year. For the standard Volkswagen Beetle, this sliding roof was still available until 1967.
The sliding roof is guided by an aluminium rail embedded in the roof, making it easy to open and close the roof. If this causes problems, the cause may be rail deformation or excessive corrosion. The rail is shaped according to the bulge of the roof, once deformed, it becomes very difficult to restore it to the right shape and these new rails offer the solution.
The set is identical to the original and consists of 4 pieces.
Don't forget to also order the guide roller repair kit (see related parts tab), because once the rails need to be renewed, these parts are usually worn out as well.
