In any modern car, the starter operates indirectly, a control voltage is applied to the starter relay during starting, which protects the ignition and starts the engine faster than if there were a direct connection from the ignition switch to the starter.
Unfortunately, this last point applies to our classic car, but with this modernized starter relay, we can modernize our classic Volkswagen and make sure that the ignition is saved and the engine starts much faster.
In the current situation, a fairly high current flows through the contact to the starter, which ensures that the contact switch will not last a lifetime. In addition, the distance that the current must travel is longer than necessary, which means that the starter starts slower than when a direct voltage is applied.
The starter relay mentioned here protects the ignition, the existing wiring is only used to provide a control voltage to operate the relay. Assembly is easy and time-saving, recommended for all classic Volkswagens.
Note : Check the ground cable of your gearbox on the chassis. It is important that the electrical mass of the motor and the gearbox are in good condition for the operation of your electrical installation. If necessary, order them separately (listed under the Options tab)
