The convertible version is reinforced in some places to give more strength to the bodywork, which is necessary due to the absence of a fixed roof. The heating channels are the same as the sedan's and are reinforced by Karmann for the convertible version. If you need to replace the heating channels, you first need a heating channel from the sedan and, next to it, the specific heating channel reinforcement of the convertible chassis which is the same as the original for the A quality mentioned here. So an identical replacement. In addition, the front of the heating channel is reinforced by a panel welded to the existing heating channel, extending from the front to just behind the exit for foot heating inside the car. These are not the only reinforcements, the B-pillars are also reinforced on the underside, from the B-pillars to the heating channels and equipped with a mounting hole for the seat belt. For the heating channels, there is also a cheaper alternative where you can grind the existing heating channels underneath while keeping the lower part. Not intended for high-level restoration (see the alternatives tab).
