If your car is lowered, the shock absorbers should be adjusted accordingly in most cases. These oil-filled shock absorbers have the same effect as the original with the difference that they are shorter to lower the car. When mounting a shock absorber of original length on a lowered car, only the lower part is used, or in the worst case the shock absorber is always at its lowest point, so it is worn out in a short time and cannot do its job, thus a danger on the road.
Lowered shock absorbers are available in oil and gas filled versions, where the gas is much stiffer.
Pressed and pulled lengths are mentioned, check this with your car.
