The rubber trim strips or moldings (both aluminium and plastic versions) are connected to each other by aluminium or stainless steel clips. In the case of the aluminium moldings, the connecting piece is pushed onto the molding, in the case of the plastic ones they are tightened. In the case of plastic moldings, make sure that the connecting piece is tightly pressed into the rubber between the moldings; leave a space of at least 1 cm between the ends of the mouldings.
The angled connecting piece for the side windows of the Volkswagen Bay Window Bus with vent windows is an exception: it is the same for the aluminium and plastic trim strips; the frame is inserted into the connecting piece.
If you have purchased a complete rubber window molding, fittings are often included, check this before you order them extra. The number differs depending on the window and VW model.
