The rubber bushes mentioned here are used for many purposes. Volkswagen was the first to use these rubbers with first generation shock absorbers. In addition, they were used for standard shock absorbers and the same rubbers were used again with the introduction of the compensation bar.
For regular shock absorbers, you will not need them as quickly, if these rubbers are worn out, you will in most cases replace the complete shock absorber, you can assume that the rest of the shock absorber is as worn as the rubber. However, if you have first generation shock absorbers or a compensation rod, it is a normal wear part that will have to be replaced when the rubber is dry and therefore begins to show excessive play.
