To protect the fuel tank and avoid metal-to-metal noises, the tank is fitted in several places with self-adhesive rubber pads on the top.
The number used can vary from model to model, so check how many have been applied to your existing tank, and if they're no longer present, there's still a visible imprint.
In addition to a few pieces on the top of the tank, four pieces were also applied to the factory suspension brackets up to 7.1985. But if the suspension mounts were replaced for any reason, brackets were used (from 8.1985 onwards) and the self-adhesive pads were replaced by anti-shock rubbers.
