Replacing your clutch disc (and pressure plate and thrust bearing) in time can save you a lot of trouble later on. If you wait too long, the clutch disc can wear to the point of contacting the metal, leaving deep grooves in the flywheel.
This standard 228 mm flywheel is suitable for 1900 and 2100 cc engines, where the 228 mm diameter refers to the diameter of the clutch disc.
Note : 1900 cc engines produced until 1983 use a 215 mm flywheel as standard. By adding the clutch clearance of a 228 mm flywheel, you can fit this larger flywheel without any problems. You now have a larger clutch area, which results in less wear than the 215 mm clutch disc, which is why Volkswagen made this modification in 1983. .
