Leaks in the intake system can lead to annoying malfunctions that are sometimes difficult to detect. A vacuum is created, and if a leak occurs in this vacuum, the engine won't accelerate properly, idles poorly or fails spontaneously.
On Type 4 engines with fuel injection, these are insulation flanges with seals on both sides.
Originally, only new gasketed insulation flanges were available from Volkswagen. Today, we do things differently: we reuse insulation flanges and fit loose gaskets above and below the flanges. If your insulation flanges are not cracked, you'll get the same thing you could order from the dealer back then.
Note: It is important, however, to remove any remaining material from the old flanges before fitting the new gaskets.
