These springs ensure that the engine lid and/or the side compartment (only applicable to the pick-up versions of the VW Bus) remain open. If it has lost its strength, it can no longer support the weight of the flap and the flap collapses.
If the spring of the Volkswagen Beetle models from August 1967 onwards has not lost its elasticity, the appearance is often the main reason to replace it, this model is fully chromed or the finishing touch in the engine compartment. Models up to July 1967 have no chrome "wow" effect, but are identical to the original and therefore the replacement for a perfect restoration.
The springs of the hood of the VW Bus and the side doors of the pick-up versions are identical to the original and therefore also galvanized. For the pick-up versions with a wider load floor, the springs are shorter, otherwise the door would hit the load floor, please take this into account when ordering.
