Oil leaks through the shift rod can be easily solved without having to disassemble the gearbox.
After loosening the shift rod, you will see the retaining ring, remove it from the housing and place a new one using universal grease for a smooth fit.
It is important that the retaining ring is pushed straight in, use a tight fitting fastener to tap the retaining ring evenly into place.
If, when the retaining ring is removed, the retaining ring housing is delivered with the retaining ring, it is possible that the retaining ring is worn or, in the worst case, the wear is in the gearbox housing. In this case, you will have to replace the gearbox housing with the retaining ring in its entirety (see alternatives tab).
Even if the gearbox casing is only slightly worn, in most cases this repair is sufficient and it is not yet necessary to replace the gearbox nose.
