Over the years, Volkswagen has always had the option of installing an optional sunroof. For the Volkswagen Bus and the Volkswagen Beetle, this was initially a folding canvas roof, but was later replaced by a sliding steel roof. For the VW Type 3 models, only a steel sliding roof was available.
If the rotating mechanism continues to rotate, in most cases the problem lies in the mechanism behind the control crank. A worn gable is common and can be replaced separately (see replacement parts tab). If there is no movement in the mechanism or if there is excessive play, you will need to replace the entire drive mechanism.
If you are not completely sure of the correct year of construction, look at the old mechanism, with the older years the pendulum axis is a little longer than the later years, this is the only difference.
Note: Always order the spring plate that ensures the cables are pressed against the sprocket with it (listed on the options tab). This clip is made of spring steel that loses its springiness over time. Especially with our classics, the function of this spring plate will have decreased considerably by now.
