This bearing is fixed on the side of the door hinge with an M6 nut and a spring washer on the Bay Window Bus and the VW Buses from 8.1984. On VW Buses built between 8.1979 and 7.1984, the bearing is blocked and fixed with a cylinder bolt.
The sliding door should slide smoothly and gradually. If it is bumpy, which is often accompanied by side noises, this may indicate that the bearing is worn.
Wear of this bearing is common, especially in Volkswagen Buses that were used as professional vans at the time, where the sliding door suffered due to frequent use.
