Type "I" connecting rods owe their name to their shape, which is similar in appearance to the original.
These connecting rods are made of chromium-molybdenum 4140 and are constructed in such a way that as little material as possible must be removed from the housing to be able to mount a crankshaft with a stroke of 74 mm or more.
I-beam connection rods are only suitable for crankshafts with VW journals (55mm), have a standard length of 1300, 1500 or 1600 cc (137mm) and are equipped with 8740 3/8" chrome-molybdenum bolts that must be tightened with a torque of 52.8 Nm.
