The handbrake cable still needs

to be disconnected. The bolt 21
that holds the clamp on the

brake backing plate can be very

tight due to dirt and corrosion

(picture 20). Use WD40 or a simi-
lar product one hour in advance

before trying to unscrew the

bolt.

On the picture on the right (pic-

ture 21) we show the clamp of
the handbrake cable of our VW

1303. Mounting may be different

for other types.
