From the 1960 model year onwards, Volkswagen fitted an oil drain bolt, although this is not standard on all engines, and many engines left the factory without this facility.
The ring is compressed after assembly, so it must be replaced once disassembled, if you reuse the old gasket, it will irrevocably continue to leak.
The same gasket ring was used on the left-hand oil pump connection pipe of the VW Beetle and the Karmann Ghia with automatic gearbox.
Note for Type 4 engines : On Type 4 engines up to 7.1979, two different sizes of drain bolt are used. The gasket mentioned here is for the drain bolt with M14 thread, please measure before ordering.
If you wish to use this gasket for a different purpose, the dimensions are mentioned in addition.
