Volkswagen has used the diesel preheat system on some Vanagon diesel and turbo diesel models. This system ensures that the waste heat generated by the diesel pump is not lost with the diesel through the return line to the fuel tank, but is used to slightly preheat the newly supplied diesel.
This results in a more efficient atomization of the diesel in the combustion chamber, resulting in more energy and power from the diesel engine.
The valve mentioned here, which is supplied as a complete replacement kit, is located at the top of the diesel filter on Vanagon Buses equipped with preheating. It is advisable to order the appropriate filter immediately, which is listed in the options tab.
