If you are looking for a remanufactured engine, Paruzzi is the ideal place for you. Since 1998, we have been building our own revision engines and have acquired extensive experience in this field. With several hundred satisfied owners, the overhaul of Volkswagen engines no longer holds any secrets for us, we have the knowledge and know-how to deliver an engine that we support 100% and for which we therefore give a 2-year guarantee.
Standard exchange
Our engines can be delivered on the basis of a standard exchange, the discount on the exchange of the old engine not yet included in the purchase price of the new engine. In order to maintain a high level of quality, the exchange engine is subject to critical control at several points. We will use your exchange engine as the basis for a new revision engine, so it must be in order. If your exchange engine is good, you will receive a refund of € 370,00 (VAT included).
- The engine must be able to run freely (i.e. it must not be stuck) and there must be no more oil in the crankcase.
- The crankcase must not be torn either externally or internally.
- Corrosion must be within the limits of eligibility.
- When purchasing an engine with a new crankcase, no attention is paid to cracks or corrosion of the old crankcase.
- It should be feasible to overhaul the engine.
- The exchange engine must be complete upon delivery.
- The exchange engine must be of the same type as the overhaul engine purchased. For performance engines, the exchange engine is a 1600 cc engine.
The return will be entirely at the buyer's expense, as well as the shipping costs incurred for the return of an unusable engine (in this case, the engine is completely dismantled). When purchasing one of our motors, the return shipment is described in detail so that it can be carried out quickly and easily.
Standard overhaul motors ( rotating part)
The engine consist of the so-called "rotating part", i. e. the complete housing with cylinders and cylinder heads. The rest of the engine construction must be taken over from the old engine. It is very important that the construction and adjustment of the new overhaul engine be carried out by an experienced mechanic with good knowledge of the air-cooled Volkswagen engine. Incorrect mounting and/or adjustment may cause significant engine damage that is not covered by the warranty. Regular engine maintenance also requires skills and experience. If you prefer a completely new original crankcase instead of a revised one, this is possible for a number of engines. With a new housing, it is no longer visible that it is an overhaul motor and the housing has the original factory dimensions.
All Paruzzi overhaul engines are suitable for unleaded gasoline . Driving on LPG is at your own risk, the problem with LPG and our air-cooled engines is temperature. The engine heats up more than when you drive on gasoline and this is something that is not desirable. The standard air-cooled boxer engine needs all its cooling and any form of temperature increase is not desirable. If you start driving on LPG, any form of warranty will be void.
What to expect
Due to rising prices, we have in the past not only provided our own engines, but also overhaul engines from other companies as a cheaper alternative. However, these engines have not met the expectations of a overhaul engine, which is why we decided in 2010 to supply only engines that meet 100% of our high quality standards and where price comes second. Quality on quantity is fully applicable to our revision engines. A new engine should be purchased only once, after which many years of carefree driving should follow. Our overhaul engines have already proven their worth in this respect.
A good overhaul goes far beyond simply assembling new bearings, cylinders, pistons and cylinder heads. As soon as the old engine is dismantled, the parts are checked and sorted, and strange wear marks or deviations are examined. Then, the parts that can be revised are cleaned, remeasured, checked and finally revised. The tolerances given by VW are of course closely monitored.
To give just one example, the crankcase is aligned. It is rare to see the crankcase of a used engine that is still within tolerances after the bearing seat measurement. In-line drilling and oversized bearings are the only option to build a reliable motor. In this case, only new bearings will considerably reduce the life of the motor. The first year, or the first years, depending on the kilometers driven, may not cause many problems, but when the engine has driven more kilometers, it waits for problems. This example also applies to other parts of the engine, of course. That is why it is very important that each engine part is examined and judged separately. Experience and know-how are the key to success. Only in this way can a good overhaul engine be delivered.
The Paruzzi rebuild engines are equipped with the following operations and/or parts:
- When the crankcase is overhauled, the crankcase is cleaned and checked for cracks.
- All wear points are checked.
- The crankcase is machined by means of in-line drilling, axial seat bearing and cylinder seat surfaces.
- If applicable or desired, a new original crankcase is used, then the above points do not apply.
- Original crankshaft machined or new.
- Refurbished connecting rods (sandblasting, new custom-made piston rod rings), or new connecting rods.
- New bearings, where the so-called "steel-backed" bearings are always mounted.
- New camshaft for 1600 cc engines and engines adjusted, if in good condition, a controlled camshaft for other engines.
- New drive pinion on the crankshaft.
- New lifters.
- New oil pump with oil pump cover.
- New or machined flywheel.
- New original springs for oil pressure tappets.
- New pistons and cylinder sets
- New cylinder heads, where the valves are checked for leaks before assembly.
- New stainless steel push rod tubes.
- New gaskets, original crankcase cover, original valve covers with brackets and spark plugs.
- Remanufactured rocker shafts with new valve lug nuts and bolts, new rings (spring loaded) and original hose clamps.
The motor is fully assembled with a special synthetic mounting paste that ensures that the moving parts are properly lubricated when the motor is first started. If engine oil had been used for this, there is little or no lubrication at start-up, as the oil had been out of fuel for a long time.
The compression ratio is calculated separately for each cylinder so that it is exactly the same for all cylinders (which does not correspond to the compression pressure). The compression ratio is set to the original value for standard engines. With performance motors, this value is higher to obtain better motor efficiency.
