Over the years, Volkswagen has used headlights from Bosch and Hella. For many headlamps, lenses of both brands are available and, where applicable, with European approval.
Before 1960, the lenses were symmetrical, with the light source being distributed equally. To avoid glare from oncoming traffic, Volkswagen introduced the asymmetrical headlamp in 1960, which directs the light source towards the roadside. This measure was not applied in all countries; in many countries the "sealed beam" headlamp had already been introduced, with the glass of the headlamp serving only as an additional protection.
Note: Don't forget to order the rubber directly around the glass, in most cases it will be digested over the years (mentioned in the "Options" tab).
