With the Karmann Ghia, working on the rear torsion bars is hard work, the mudguards are annoying and they can't be dismantled as is the case with a Volkswagen Beetle.
In order to be able to remove the torsion bars from the rear axle, the rear mudguards have a round hole which is sealed by a two-part plate.
These two parts are fastened together with a connecting nut, and that's where the problem lies. In many Karmann Ghia, the bolt is rusted and breaks. The rust has also caused so much damage that replacing the plates is no longer possible anyway.
These plates are delivered per side. They consist of an outer part that follows the shape of the mudguard and has a stud with a nut and an inner part.
If you need to replace both sides, you will need two sets.
