Most Volkswagen Beetles were delivered ex-works with clear glass. In previous years, the windscreen was usually made of tempered glass. In the youngest VW models, the windscreens are made of safety glass (laminated glass), which later became available for older models.
To block the sun's rays and for more privacy, consider replacing all the glazing with tinted glass. With a few years of construction, you also have the choice between standard door glazing or One-Piece door windows. In all kits, the windscreens are made of laminated glass and the rest is made of tempered glass, as is the case originally.
