The running board of every Volkswagen Beetle will have to be replaced at least once, because due to the weather conditions, dry rubber and steel will also have to withstand a lot of water splashes. You might consider opting for a cheap B-quality, where the saying "cheap is expensive" will make sense.
The A-quality running boards mentioned here are made from high quality steel with a thick rubber coating. The steel of the B-quality step is very thin and is covered with a thin layer of plastic that will tear and shrink in the foreseeable future.
All running boards fit all Volkswagen Beetle models, the width of the moulding (strip), if any, and its profile depend on the year of manufacture. For example, a young model can be fitted with an old model running board or vice versa.
From August 1960, the ribbed structure of the running boards was adjusted, the running boards from 8.1960 to 7.1966 fit the years of construction up to 7/1960, only the ribbed structure does not correspond to the original. Until 9/1952 the shape of the moulding also differs, the diameter is the same but with a profile. If you have a VW Beetle from before July 1960 and you want the correct corrugated structure or a colour other than black, look at the "replacement parts" tab and order the step cover in addition (you will have to replace the cover).
The running board mentioned here is delivered without moulding (moulding strip), for those who do not want to mount a moulding or who want to transfer it from the old running board. See the "other models" tab for the steps supplied with a moulding.
