Originality is of paramount importance to many vintage car owners. If there is an opportunity to retain the original, that opportunity will be taken. If your brake cylinders need to be replaced, you can buy new ones, but you can also consider having your brake cylinders overhauled, at least you will keep the original exterior.
Unfortunately, overhaul kits are not available for all brake cylinders. But if your pistons are 19.05 mm in diameter, you're lucky and you can bring your existing brake cylinder back to life. This overhaul kit consists of new cups, dust caps, a compression spring and a bleed cap for one brake cylinder. It is important that the pistons and the inside of the brake cylinder are still in good condition and have not rusted too much.
Note: Many people use brake fluid to rebuild the whole thing smoothly, this is not the right method, brake fluid is very aggressive and has no lubricating effect. Use only mounting paste, which not only ensures a smooth assembly but also long-term storage, with brake fluid you can achieve exactly the opposite. Use mounting grease on the pistons, inner brake cylinder and all rubber parts. Include this supplement, the mounting paste is listed under the Options tab.
