Our classic Volkswagen needs to be lubricated at a number of points during each service. The grease nipple used for this purpose works in one direction only, the grease can only be pressed in. If the grease can no longer be pressed in or if the grease is no longer retained, the grease nipple must be replaced.
Over the years, the number of lubrication points has been greatly reduced, so the applications listed may differ depending on the year of manufacture, as may the thread or shape of the grease nipple.
It is advisable to measure the thread before ordering, especially because Volkswagen has changed the thread size at the factory for some applications, regardless of the year of manufacture.
Below we show the M6 x 1.00 angled grease nipples that were factory applied to the tie rods. These were later replaced by maintenance-free tie rods.
